Summer's here...so that means it's time to prepare for the beginning of the upcoming school year...haha! I'm always in teacher mode...it's a strength & a weakness of mine!! BUT I absolutely love taking advantage of my "free time" to brainstorm ideas for when my new little bunch of first graders arrive!!My creativity thrives when I have time to rest, relax, and recharge!! Ahhhhhh, I heart you summertime!!!!
Centers are a huge part of my classroom routine! I like to go ahead and begin introducing (slowly) how my kiddos should work during center time during the first full week of school (we start on a Wed.). Usually, I pull small reading groups during our center time, but during the first two weeks, I just circulate the room....praising...and well ummm, redirecting my heart out!!! To start the year out with a BANG, I made a "Back to School" themed math and literacy center packet!!! It includes 5 hands on math centers that focus mainly on basic number sense skills. The 5 hands on literacy centers focus on phonics, alphabetical order, sentence structure, and writing. I can't wait to use them after I enjoy every minute second of my summer vacation!!!
Here's a little sneak peak of all the goodies in this packet!
Here's a lil' something for YOU! In one game, your smarties drop two counters on the game board and use the numbers the counters land on to make addition/subtraction number sentences. Using the same game board, your kiddos can also drop two counters and write which is the greater/lesser number. Click on the picture for the two school themed number toss activities!!!
